  Mother’s Day is a special occasion celebrated around the world to honor and appreciate the love, sacrifices, and unwavering support of mothers. Observed on different dates in various countries, most nations, including the United States, India, and many others, celebrate it on the second Sunday of May. The History of Mother’s Day The modern version of Mother’s Day began in the United States in the early 20th century. Anna Jarvis is credited with founding the holiday in 1908, following the death of her own mother. She wanted to create a day to recognize mothers' roles and contributions to society. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared Mother’s Day a national holiday. However, honoring motherhood dates back to ancient civilizations.
